RUGBY UNION FESTIVAL 30 APRIL – 3 MAY 2027 — SOMERSET COUNTRYSIDE
RUGBY DAYS 1–2 MAY 2027 · ACCOMMODATION INCLUDED FOR THE FULL STAY
The classic Revel weekend — two days of festival rugby done properly.
AGES U7–U16 · GIRLS & BOYS
Park stays run 3-night packages around the festival — the whole club stays together, and leaves the morning after the rugby.
THE WEEKEND
Somerset is the biggest of our May festivals — wave after wave of mini and junior sides, pitches as far as you can see, and a touchline atmosphere that builds all weekend.
The rugby is built around the right things: every side gets a full fixture card, and day one always sets up a day two worth fighting for. Minis play non-competitive festival rugby with medals for all; from U12 up there are multiple cups in every age group, so whatever your level, day two is a final you can win.
Add the holiday-park evenings — pool, arcade, showbar — and you get the weekend clubs rebook before they've even left the car park.

THE FORMAT
Day one kicks off with a group format, with each team playing three to four matches. Matches are staggered across age groups so teams spend less time waiting and more time playing - squads typically play either in the morning or afternoon, leaving the rest of the day free to explore and relax.
Day two follows a similar staggered schedule, with fixtures based on the previous day’s results. Top-performing teams compete for the prestigious Revel Cup, middle-ranked teams for the Revel Challenge Cup, and lower-ranking teams for the Revel Shield. Every team plays on both days against opposition of a similar standard. Depending on entries, additional cups may be awarded in each age group.
After each final, teams come together on stage with music and support from families, and commemorative medals and trophies are presented to celebrate their achievements.

THE PARTY LIVES AT THE PARK
The rugby is only half the weekend. The whole tour stays together on park — and once the boots come off, the evenings take over: fancy dress, karaoke, live entertainment and a dance floor full of teammates and parents. It's the part of the festival nobody plans for and nobody forgets.

WHILE YOU'RE HERE
More to do between matches. Tell us what your squad fancies and we build it into the weekend around the rugby.

DRY SLOPE SKIING & SNOWBOARDING
A floodlit 165-metre dry slope at Mendip Activity Centre. Instructors take complete beginners from first slide to linked turns in one session.

TOBOGGANING
Mendip's most popular session: bright toboggans down a floodlit, sprinkler-wetted slope. Quick, loud and brilliant for the younger age groups.

6 ACTIVITIES

BUSHCRAFT
Shelter building and outdoor skills with Mendip's instructors. A good team challenge away from the pitches.

CAVING
Head underground in Sandford Levy, an old mine with stalactites and gour pools, or try a proper crawl in Goatchurch Cavern nearby.

FRISBEE GOLF
An 18-hole disc golf course over the hilltops and woodland of Mendip's estate, with a Yeti Hunt trail for the younger ones.

HANGAR 51 NERF & GEL BATTLES
Foam-dart battles, then UV gel blasters, in a themed indoor hangar with fog and lasers. Run as private sessions for your group.

ORIENTEERING & NATURE TRAIL
Map in hand, find the control points across Mendip's 250-acre estate, or follow the nature trail at your own pace.

ROCK CLIMBING & ABSEILING
Real limestone at Sandford Quarry with qualified instructors: climbing, belaying and an abseil back down the face.

4 ACTIVITIES

AIR RIFLE SHOOTING
Target shooting with a full safety briefing from the instructors, and a score card to take home.

ARCHERY
An instructor-led introduction to target archery on purpose-built ranges, with a little friendly competition to finish.

ARCHERY TAG
A team game somewhere between archery and dodgeball, with foam-tipped arrows. A good one for a whole squad at once.

AXE THROWING
Coached axe throwing at wooden targets on woodland ranges. Technique beats strength, so the quiet ones often win.
2 ACTIVITIES

CHEDDAR GORGE & CAVES
England's biggest gorge, with show caves, clifftop walks and the village that gave cheddar its name.

WESTON-SUPER-MARE
Sand, the Grand Pier and fish and chips on the seafront. An easy afternoon for families travelling with the team.
2 ACTIVITIES

KAYAKING & CANOEING
Kayaking, canoeing and raft building for groups on the water at Hewish, or a guided paddle round Bristol Harbour for older players.

PADDLEBOARDING
A calm-water paddleboard session at Mendip's Hewish lake. Buoyancy aids provided, and you do not need to be a strong swimmer.
